A gentleman had recently purchased a used camper and took the camper on a trip for the first time. The camper was equipped with propane, 2-burner, stove. On the morning after his first evening at the campground, he went to light the camper's stove and the camper exploded. The man received serious burn injuries.
Chemaxx was asked to investigate the cause of the explosion. The most likely root cause was propane inside the camper. Chemaxx developed special methods to test for slow propane leaks inside the camper. A main issue was whether the camper was just recently sold with a leak and whether the leak was of a magnitude that could have been detected by the camper dealer. |
